Camp Fire

Camping is one of those classic recreations that all generations seem to enjoy. It’s a great way of bonding with friends and family, as well as reconnecting with nature and spending some time in the great outdoors. If you’re hoping to enjoy a wholesome campout yourself, you won’t have to look far. There are a range of amazing campgrounds close to Leesburg, VA.

1. Marble Quarry Campsite

This secluded, rustic site is perfect for those looking to get away from it all. Found along the former route of the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal, it now sits on the banks of the Potomac River and is accessible only to hikers and bikers. Surrounded by mixed forests and offering plenty of interesting historical and geological sights, it’s well worth a visit.

Although facilities are fairly limited, comprising chemical toilets, water, picnic table, and grill, the peaceful and isolated nature of the site make it a real favorite with folks looking to escape the pressures of daily life. Here, the usual sounds of traffic are replaced by the gentle splash of the river flowing over rocks. Please note, although the site is open year-round, water is shut off between November 15 and April 15 each year.
